Good News

Finally after seven months of treatment, some good news. In fact two pieces of good news. The first blessing is that my antibodies are in the normal range. That means that my body should be able to fight off the infections that have plagued me over the past four years and shut down my lungs. The second blessing is that my lady CT scan shows that the sinus infection that has plagued me for the last year is finally gone. Three months on antibiotics and a few antibodies to help out have finally defeated the infection.

I celebrated the great news by having my lungs crash with two weeks of declining lung function. When I reached over 120 points down and significant shortness of breath I went to the Dr for steroid shots and another round of oral steroids.

During this time I also found out from my immunologist that they will be changing my scedule. I will take half of the dose of gamma globulin two days a week. The hope is that this will prevent me from getting so incredibly ill on treatment day. The thought of not getting major migraines, itching, rashes, chills, muscle aches, nausea and vomiting makes me smile. Though I have to admit that there is a fear that I will just be sick twice as much floating around the abyss of my mind. But I am choosing to be positive.

Tonight I am finally breathing easier and ready to get back to a normal schedule. Well my normal frenetic schedule. Also I am looking forward to the possibility of the ceaseless round of treatment misery of the last 7 months.

I guess that is a fairly good place to be tonight....
