I started itching yesterday. By last night I had a rash covering my left arm. With trepidation I called my doctor today knowing that because I was in the midst of this month long treatment of antibiotics, he would probably make me come in. I am still juggling my finances from my $500 day at the doctor two weeks ago so the thought of another $150 to have him look at a rash was ... well discouraging. And to be honest I was a bit fearful that it was a reaction to the antibiotic and that would be $200 of meds down the drain plus having to start treatment all over.
So I squared my shoulders and marched off to see the doctor. I came out an hour later very relieved. First of all my lungs sounded great. Better than he had heard them in months. That was the good news ... and the other good news is that though my medicine was causing the rash, it was not an allergic reaction. It seems that this antibiotic makes you sun sensitive and I broke out in the rash where the sun had been hitting my arm.
So as usual my fear was much greater than the reality. I got good news and more good news at the doctor. It has been months since that has happened.
Of course today did cost me $150 and I guess that balances things out a bit.
